Letter from our Leader
Lutheran High brothers and sisters in Christ,
I’m so excited to officially welcome you to the 43rd school year of Lutheran High! But, before I move further, I’ll follow the example given to us in holy scripture and begin this letter with a word of thanksgiving.
I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge 1 Corinthians 1: 4-5
I am so thankful for the grace and salvation given by our Lord Jesus, and I’m also thankful for the prayers and support of this community that help Lutheran High enrich our students year after year!
As supporters of LHS, I’ll provide updates three key areas: Educational Core, Foundations, and Future.
Educational Core
Enrollment
On August 13, we began our school year blessed with 448 students. We welcomed more than 100 freshmen from area Lutheran and public elementary schools. Roughly 70% of our freshman class comes from our Association schools, and 7% are from other area Lutheran schools. We enrolled a total of 16 new transfer students for the 2025-2026 school year.
Faculty and Staff
To start the year, we gave thanks for the ministry of Lutheran High at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where we installed newly called faculty members- Alyssa Boehlke, Taylor Christian, and Grace Oberdieck and dedicated our new faculty and staff members- Heidi Baker, Sam Boehlke, Douglas Carlson, Laura Carlson, Lily Karase, Kevin Kuehl, Kim Paquette, and Julie Stemme.
God be praised for blessing LHS as we continue to minister and to educate the students of our region!
Fiscal Year Update
Through the Empowered by Christ, Enriching the Future Capital Campaign, we have already raised more than $2.75 million, which allowed us to complete several key projects without incurring any debt. These projects include the renovation of seven classrooms and two science labs, adding a new Cougar Café, and renovations to the Commons (to be completed this fall!). We continue to work toward a new multipurpose facility, improvements to our baseball and softball facilities, and other future priorities as identified by our school community.
Foundations
Values and Vision
As you know, we’ve firmly re-established the strength of our mission, Grow and Serve in Christ, which has directed LHS since 1982. As companions to our mission, we have also codified the vision and values of Lutheran High. While strong values have always been present at LHS, I’m so proud to share that we have formally articulated four core values to guide who we are and what we do:
These values are also reflected in our new vision, which defines our aspirations for our school.
Ministry of Care
This year, Lutheran High School is launching a new initiative called the Ministry of Care, aimed at strengthening our culture of hospitality, communication, and Christ-centered service. Through a partnership with Grand Canyon University, we are auditing and improving how we care for others in every corner of campus—from how we greet guests and answer phones to how we communicate with families and support students. The heart of this effort is simple: every interaction should reflect the love of Christ. Whether it’s a hallway hello, a parent email, or a classroom conversation, our words and actions matter. We believe hospitality is missional, communication is ministry, and first impressions leave a lasting impact. Staff will be trained and equipped to serve with empathy, clarity, and consistency—living out care not as a checklist, but as a daily habit.
Built on the unerring word of God, these important elements – our mission, vision, values, and culture – provide Lutheran High with a clear, faithful foundation on which to build our future.
Future
Strategic Plan
As we plan for the future of Lutheran High, we are doing more than improving our physical spaces. We have also collaboratively created our next strategic plan that intertwines our mission and values in a way that nurtures and builds upon the best of our school and culture and focuses on prioritized areas of growth. We have identified five priorities and the key action items that will transform Lutheran High over the next three years. As our campus physically changes, you can feel confident that we are also working just as hard on the strategic future of Lutheran High.

Last word with Luther
The Third Petition: Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
What does this mean?
Question 267. How can I make decisions as a Christian about everyday matters?
The good and gracious will of God is done even without our prayer, but we pray in this petition that it may be done among us also.
- God gives me the freedom to make my own decisions in everyday matters. He has provided the Ten Commandments to guide my decision-making. He also invites me to pray for wisdom in choosing the best course of action according to his word.
- In making decisions, I can also consider the many gifts that God has provided me in my everyday life: my specific calling (see Table of Duties), my abilities and interests, the needs of those around me, the opportunities He has laid before me, and the counsel and wisdom of others.
- Finally, I can pray for God’s blessing on my decisions, knowing full well that I daily sin much and can never completely avoid sin in this life. I live each day in the forgiveness of sins in Jesus, knowing that my God is a God of blessing who promises to work all things for my ultimate good.
