Lutheran High School provides many opportunities for students who have been blessed with musical talents. Through choirs, orchestra, and pep band, students work to develop their God-given abilities and perform in a variety of settings. Choirs and orchestra travel to local Lutheran grade schools, and the select Concert Choir visits LHS Association churches throughout the year and enhances their worship services. Three times each year, all music groups come together to present a Christmas concert, Spring concert, and Cabaret Night--an evening of solo and ensemble performances from a variety of genres.
Throughout the years, LHS students have consistently received high ratings at District and State solo and ensemble festivals.
Mixed Chorus is a year-long course open to any student interested in vocal and choral music. This course gives students the opportunity to improve their vocal techniques in daily class along with performance in two concerts each year. May be repeated multiple years for credit.
Students may also audition for the Concert Choir, which is an advanced performance group that represents Lutheran High School at a number of events throughout the year, presents two concerts annually, and performs on a tour to surrounding states on alternating years.
Students also have the opportunity to audition for Metro District Honors Choir, form ensemble groups for District competition, and use their vocal music talents to enhance chapel.
Orchestra is a year-long course for students who have had previous instrumental experience. The group performs at various events throughout the year, presents two concerts annually, and performs on a tour to surrounding states on alternating years. This course may be repeated for credit.
Pep Band performs for home football and basketball games and pep rallies and is considered an extra-curricular activity for students who wish to use their musical talents to build school spirit.
Students involved in instrumental music may also audition for Metro District Honors Band and form ensembles for District competition.
