LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL OF ST. CHARLES

Meet Brent Hickenbottom

Brent Hickenbottom

Brent Hickenbottom is a proud father of three—Jayce (13), Raelee (10), and Grayden, who lives forever in his heart. Family time is everything to Brent, whether they’re playing games, watching movies, or breaking into song together. If there’s karaoke involved, even better.

Outside of school, Brent thrives on connection and competition. He loves karaoke nights, board games, card games, and being around people. His household also includes a turtle named Speedy and a fish named Leonardo, who add a little extra fun to the family mix. A fun surprise? Brent almost played volleyball in college.

Brent is a graduate of Culver-Stockton College, where he studied communication, journalism, and public relations. During his college years, his fraternity had a standout moment—winning both the Scholarship Cup and the Intramural Cup his junior year. Several mentors shaped his journey along the way, including teachers and professors who influenced him in science, reading, art, music, psychology, and choir.

At Lutheran High School, Brent’s favorite moments are seeing students’ faces light up when he shows up to support them at activities. He loves working at LHS because it’s a place he truly believes in and feels deeply connected to—so much so that he can’t wait for his own kids to attend someday. For Brent, what makes Lutheran High special is the people and the shared focus on why we do what we do.

He hopes students and coworkers remember him as someone who genuinely loved people, wanted to know them well, and worked to leave the world better than he found it. Brent lives out LHS’s mission of “Grow and Serve in Christ” by staying open to learning from others and trusting God’s unique plan—both for himself and for those around him. One verse that inspires him is Mark 10:14.

If you’re ever looking to grab lunch, Brent would happily choose Dr. Seuss or Walt Disney as his lunch companions. His go-to drink is iced tea, and his recommendations include Love Actually and anything written by Roald Dahl. And one last fun fact—he’s a huge Harry Potter nerd and will absolutely sing karaoke seven nights a week if you’re up for it.
