LHS Families & Friends,

We hope you and your family had a blessed Easter as we celebrated the resurrection of our Lord and the hope we have in Him! At Lutheran High School, we continue to experience that same hope and joy as we look toward the future of our ministry with gratitude and excitement.

As part of our Empowered by Christ: Enriching Our Future Campaign, I am excited to share that we have now received approximately $1.2 million in pledges toward our Celebration Goal. This tremendous show of generosity from our alumni, families, grandparents, and friends reflects a deep commitment to the mission of LHS and the bright future that lies ahead.

This campaign is not about buildings or renovations—for me, it’s about our students. Every dollar pledged directly supports the environment in which our students grow spiritually, academically, and personally. Updated facilities will provide opportunities for richer classroom experiences, stronger community connections, and enhanced spaces where students can gather, worship, and learn in ways that shape their character and faith for life.

One such space that will see significant improvement is our kitchen. I am pleased to share that our Board of Directors has now approved the construction to begin this summer!  We are excited to welcome Nate Droste (Class of 1998) and his family’s company, Droste Construction, to perform this work for LHS!  As planning continues, we are especially grateful for the partnership and insight of Carl Drafall, a 1998 LHS graduate, and his co-owner Will Schenck of Mission Architects. Their commitment to LHS and their innovative ideas for transforming our campus spaces have been instrumental as we envision how to best serve our students now and into the future.

With the kitchen project now underway, we joyfully turn our attention to the next phase of the Celebration Goal: classroom renovations and improvements to the Commons. These areas are vital to our mission of providing dynamic, Christ-centered education each day.  Renovated classrooms will offer flexible, modern learning environments, while enhancing the Commons will create a more welcoming and functional space for worship, student gatherings, and performances in theatre and music. This central space has the potential to become the heart of our campus—where faith, community, and creativity come together. The Challenge and Victory goals lie ahead—and with them, the opportunity to expand our reach, strengthen our programs, and bless our students in even greater ways.

The momentum we’ve experienced so far is because of people like you—those who believe in Lutheran High’s mission to “Grow and Serve in Christ.”  Your support is needed now to bring these improvements to life and ensure every student at LHS has access to the best possible environment for growth, learning, and worship.  We are especially thankful for our Board of Directors and our faculty and staff, who have led by example with their participation and pledges for the campaign. Their generosity and commitment set the tone for what it means to be all-in for our students!

If your campaign packet hasn’t arrived yet, we kindly ask for your patience—mail delivery has been slower than expected in some areas. To get materials immediately, please reach out to either Donor Relations Coordinator Butch Powley at powley@lhssc.orgor (314) 368-2758, or to me atdkuhlmann@lhssc.org or (314) 497-3014. We’ll make sure you receive a Case Statement and all the campaign materials as quickly as possible.

As we move forward in faith, we ask that you prayerfully consider how you might partner with us—whether through a financial gift, by connecting us with others who share our passion for Lutheran education, or simply by lifting the campaign in prayer.

Grow & Serve in Christ

HEAD OF SCHOOL

Lutheran High School Campaign Prayer
Heavenly Father, You call and empower Your people into compassionate service and faithfulness. As we embark on enriching the future of Lutheran High School through this campaign, we humbly seek Your guidance and blessings. Open our hearts to the needs of our community. Inspire us to use our gifts and talents to make this campus a house of wisdom and a home where students come to love You as they grow and serve in Christ. May we grow in our faith through this journey, trusting in Your goodness, particularly as it is shown through the generosity of Your people. Grant us wisdom in planning, courage in action, and a spirit of unity as we work together to build up your kingdom, empowered by Christ to enrich our future. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
