BOYS SWIMMING

Faith in the Fast Lane

Competing for Christ, together.

Colossians 3:17 says, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” As the LHS athletic mission statement indicates, “Winning is an Attitude.”

The swim program’s philosophy is to provide an atmosphere where our “Cougles” can develop their spiritual, mental, physical, social and emotional gifts through the avenue of athletic competition. Working as a combined squad between Lutheran High School and Christian High School, the swim program encourages excellence and is conducted under the principle of doing all things for the glory of Christ. Partnering together offers student athletes the unique opportunity to compete with one another and share the common goal of living a life of Christian service to further spread the Gospel.

Coach Sue Hancock

Sue Hancock is the head coach for the boys’ swim and dive team. Since the team’s inception in 2012, it has grown both in size and performance, achieving multiple conference championships and producing many all-state swimmers, including a state individual champion.

Sue attended the University of Missouri – Columbia, obtaining a BSBA in business. She competed on the Mizzou women’s swim team all four years and was captain of the team her senior year.

Sue enjoys working with our athletes, using this sport to help them develop both athletically and spiritually to become well-balanced young men. In addition to coaching for the past 20 years, she has also taught math for middle and high school. Currently retired from teaching full-time, she still enjoys tutoring students. She and her husband Jim have five children and seventeen grandchildren, and they enjoy traveling across the country off-season to visit them all.
